Sony Reader Daily Edition – Black ( PRS900BCKIT ) Review

I bought the PRS-900 Sony Daily Edition, after a month of research, which is available on the market. Although there are some really great products out there, I had a number of specific requirements that I used to all the readers who have examined.
My primary requirement in order of importance, were
*) Support for PDF files (both single and two PDF files column, as I read a lot of research especially in two-column format)
*) Portability – I wanted somethingI could easily carry in my backpack and simply read on the train on a flight and easy to wear, however I need.
*) Note Feature – When I particularly like research and technical documentation, I can make notes to read and I just do without a lot of time.
*) Price – My budget was limited, but was willing to stretch a little for a good product
*) Battery life – most readers are battery life down, but this is importantespecially when you read PDF files, such as zooming into portions of a page on a real document, reading a physical page on e-Reader with 5 + because of the virtual page view zoom cutting.
*) Build quality – I wanted to be able to do so without worrying too carry in my backpack with books and a laptop.
Although these requirements that I started, I built a second set of requirements, as I wanted. You are in noparticular order,
*) E-book formats – I read non-fiction and fiction in my spare time. So I wanted to help the reader to a variety of formats
*) Dictionary – I want a dictionary for a word search, if necessary, and half in eReader also that I wear an electronic dictionary, where I take the reader.
*) Shades of Grey – The more gray levels, looks more like a book (although some Many agree with me on this issue.Even simple text seems a bit 'better on a device with 16 gray levels compared with 8 levels of gray). Some graphics and photos on technical documents, with more clarity, played with more shades of gray.
*) USB Charger – The ability to charge the player via a standard USB cable is an advantage especially when I, as I do not need to travel to a 'feed me.
With all these conditions, I considered the Kindle, Nook, iRex, Kobo, Sony and all otherpotential readers. Since I wanted a player with record, I filtered the list of those who understand the function has a touchscreen and a keyboard. But I kept readers Kobo on my list, why buy the cheaper and easier to Australia (where I live) was. If you've read a lot of PDF, 6-inch screen gives you a hard time. Some readers who love Kobo player can increase the font size in a PDF file, rather thancould not use the zoom function. Even in landscape mode, the screen by 6 inches with a lack of legibility of PDF files. Therefore, I was tempted to buy a player with a larger screen.
How big screens bring the apparatus large and physically, when the device is the size of an A4 sheet, it feels more like a magazine, and for me a reader of this size, a bit 'lacking in portability than a 6. But the Sony PRS-900 is a 7.1 "screen, just the right size for my needs. It 's the same widthas the PRS-600, which is comparable to a paperback book. Reached the 7.1 "screen with more in length. PDFs look really good, especially in landscape mode and it gives me great visibility even with a dual-column for the default text size in PDF format. The special properties that PRS-900 makes this a great performer, with the possibility of PDF, text formats on any PDF document and modify the built-in margin of crops, the text size increases dramatically. I just couldRead transforms a single page of a double column PDF on how to landscape with two pages. PRS-900 also has a double page in landscape mode, you can quickly scroll through a document or book. All in all PRS-900 is a great performer PDF files.
With the annotation feature, I just wanted to take notes, whether handwritten or typed on a document or book. The most important thing for me is the efficiency with which I could do it. Here I refer to the performance as the amount of timepass a note, rather than writing or typing speed. I am sure that the inflamed and other devices with physical keyboards are easier to use. However, I hate drawing with a keyboard on a small device. I liked the design of Sony make the best property available to monitor and achieve a small form factor with the largest screen possible. I am satisfied with the onscreen keyboard when I enter something and although it may slow down as the use of a physicalKeyboard, we still do the job. I do not see an eReader, a letter or something long. I am more than happy with the use of even one finger on both hands to type on an onscreen keyboard. The PRS-900 will run on-screen keyboard. I managed to touch on the screen faster than the answers, and yet all the letters without problems, even with the delay. I like the annotation feature on Sony models that I have with the stylus, or even I couldFinger mark, or write something on the screen at any page in a book or document. The only thing I can recommend to anyone interested in this position is that to give an idea of both species arrive in eReaders. Sony uses the touch screen, where its sensitive to touch. There are several devices on a Wacom tablet (Neo iRex iLiad Bebook base, etc.), where the screen is sensitive only to a specialized stylus. I preferred the Sony, because I have that I do not like to turn the pagejust swipe your finger across the screen from side to side. But I recognized only one drawback to the Sony's touch screen after receiving the product. If you have any comments, if you have the stylus (or finger) Make sure that other parts of the hand does not touch the screen. If you noticed the writing could be due to, know that I do not think that is the case with devices based on Wacom.
The battery life on Sony PRS-900 is really great. Lasts for 12,000Page turns to specifications and that is a lot compared to the other side of 7000-10000 rpm. Equally important, I think a great feature user-replaceable battery, like a bad battery, I would return the unit for repair and spend a lot of money for the labor market, but is not guaranteed.
The player is built like a tank. By building quality IT, I have no problem with it in a bag with other heavy things like books. And 'screen isa bit 'of reflection compared to a player without touchscreen. However, it is not as bad as reported. Personally I had problems with it. Whenever there is a glow, you can easily tilt the reader a bit 'to make it off the screen. may be a priority for most users who simply like to buy and read e-books from a shop and would. In my case it was not. This was one of the reasons why I went for the PRS-900, although the 3G network coverage, not to work in Australia. The PRS900BCKIT iswith some extra goodies like a hard case that protects the player and a good charger that charges in 2.5 hours. All this makes it really worth the price to pay for this!

Why I Like My Daily Edition – Richard Hildreth –
I have my daily edition about a month and really had fun. First of all let me say that I have a Sony 505, 700, 600, and finally the 900th I think the 505 is still reading the first device for those who just want a book without the benefit of other features. And 'largest pocket size and is clearly legible. In addition to this, but I think the 900 touch screen than other models. The touch screen is very intuitive and makesNavigation is very simple. Onbard dictionary (Oxford or American English, your choice) can be accessed from within any text, like the 600, or as a stand-alone volume. Another feature I like PDF is supported so well. Works best in landscape mode, and I like the ability to see both sides. with a larger screen, more space to scribble notes as well. The wireless is not really necessary, but that does not mean I do not like. My wife and I were in Borders the other dayand I saw a book that I really liked. It 'was 14.00 clock in the back of the card. I went to the shop, and Sony were the same for 9.00. So I bought and downloaded wirelessly. This feature is a snap. I can also save books as good as anywhere else, besides the Sony, but this must be done while connected to a computer. There are some considerations, such as screen 600, but with the level 16 is not as bad as could be. As many say, only a slight inclinationon the screen and I can easily read. Thanks Sony for further development.
Dead after 8 months – T.Rose – Duck, NC
I'm angry that after 8 months of frozen screen and was returned to Sony. After calling them and overcome all the evidence has been sent back. After 10 days there was no communication from them. They finally called and said they are working to implement the test and call a technician or today or tomorrow, and should be back in a week or so. And we pay $ 29 for labor. On a product that I think is expensive, the charge was ridiculous. BuyIPAD a next time.
Terrific Potential Missed – iTyro – Long Beach, CA, USA
I like the hardware. Has a nice big screen, almost like a luxury paper back. The screen is great. I have often likened to a friend Kindle and the contrast and sharpness are about equal. This is more a reflection touch screen, but rarely is a real problem. Just tilt away from the spotlight. The built-in coverage is high quality and makes it look like a book. There is also a treatment grippiness to return the hard plastic structured, enriching and a bit 'makes it better before the leather cover and spine mixture. Very well done and colorful. The few non-touch controls are on the bottom and take up little space by touch screen controls work well. The text stream is great for PDFs. To enlarge the images and graphics is a mixed blessing. Great, but there are certainly a lot of cocks and waiting to change the screen to use it.
The software is downloaded to your computer terribly. I did not see errors, badSoftware developed in a decade. E 'need to connect to Sony's library, unless you do it with the same players. It uses a process to synchronize the contents of the reader and the application of computers may not meet unless they work. Synchronization little arrow turns and runs only on a book and never goes any where. You drive the car to start irritating software that grabs your reader and blocks you from using other software. I, like many other players from Sony, usersup and manage a third-party app, the library book.
The function of public library is a bust, if you live in the West. It requires a local library where you can get a map and usually only in oriental libraries using EPUB format. Western libraries use the Microsoft format. Moreover, the selection is not large libraries, books and can not have epub out a book if someone else has because of DRM.
I have a cursory examination of the availability of the book, but it wasnot thorough enough. Sony will not come near the store selection Kindle.
I like the hardware and reading the Sony, but if I did it again I would have a Kindle. The sophistication and integration of software is more than a thousand clunky interface button and the small screen.
